windvane selfsteering comparisons

Hi I am cosidering fitting a hydravane self steering system which works as an auxiliary rudder and would appreciate advise and opinion of this system over others is it powerful enough for a 43 cat ketch. wind pilot also have a similar system but the auxiliary rudder is powered by a pendulam oar rather than the vane although the vane operates pendulam does anyone have experience of this make. I have a Hyydrovane, and have had it on two boats. Brilliant piece of kit, kept going downwind in 55kts across the Atlantic.

The best thing that I ever did was to instal a Monitor vane. I cannot imagine a more precise and effective system. The tiller/wheel lines would only be a problem in a centre-cockpit boat. I've no experience of the Hydravane, but suggest that you check both out.
