Windsor Mooring Charges doubled !

Still quite reasonable

compare it to the charge to park a car...

£6 on the Brocas, but I was a bit miffed to find the warden arguing with a friend on my boat that it was "12.00-12.00" not "24 hours" - it does say this on the ticket to be fair but that was at 12.03 on Sunday and he had been arguing for at least five minutes when I got back to the boat. We were the only boat there and one of four overnight so maybe revenues are down a bit...

Pity all local authorities cant follow the Abingdon model !

Its a good model i.e no charge, however it does have some drawbacks in that it provides free moorings for the "continuous travellers", I cross the bridge every morning and there have been limited spaces for weeks.

The fee collected by Steve at Henley has been £6 for quite a long time I think so an increase is no surprise. We prefer the other side near Phyllis Court (I always forget the name, is it Fawley Meadows?). The footpath through there is relatively quiet and it is quite a pleasant walk into the town. £8 seems pretty good value I think for what you get and where it is. We have already booked there for the Rewind Festival.

The same goes for Windsor. It is usually a very popular spot with some pretty good moorings.

Steve's new noticesnow proudly proclaim "Henley Royal Regatta".

So it's an extra £2 to keep the rowers in busness... ;)

The sad part about all these increases is that none of the money finds its way into the EA coffers to contribute to the cost of running and maintaining the waterway.

I get the feeling from most of the posts on this thread that there is an air of inevitability about it all so pay up, smile and wave ?

Isn't that the same with Marlow now? Or have I been misinformed?

We moored at Marlow a couple of weekends ago. We paid at the leisure centre. Mooring includes use of showers and a free swim so good value for us as we had three kids with us.

Later in the day a couple of people came round to collect the mooring fees for those who hadn't paid.

There is no escape.... LOL.:D

That's changed then! I may have to turn into an itinerant!

I think so.

I'd prefer it to be free but actually I really don't think that it is terrible value, as I said before, you can't even park a car for eight pounds, and look at what the sea-goers have to pay for a night in a marina! Admittedly they have facilities, but even so...
