Windsor Marina Chandlery, any inside knowledge?

To my knowledge the chadlery there closed several years ago, always used to pop in there when getting a pump out as Bray didn't have a chandlery then. Closest now is RYB which means a car trip as I can't be bothered taking the boat down the narrow entrance to RYB.

Darren.

And RYB is pants! Since they were taken over the old staff (who knew what they had, where it was and how much it was) seem to have gone and the stock they carry is extremely limited. It's like they're winding it down. Where's the next nearest?

It always amazes me that people invest in opening a Chandlers. One needs carry so much stock which just sits there year in year out. No wonder they have to rip off to try and scratch a living.

May I mention that I've always found the Penton Hook chandlery to be extremely good. Well-stocked, reasonable prices, very knowledgable and friendly people...

Don't forget Bill at MEC (Val Wyatts) - in driving time it is actually easier to get to than Harleyford from Windsor/Bray as you don't have to cross the river and queue in the traffic.

With you 100%.
They can't win;
1. Large stock, low turnover = higher stock holding costs and therefore high prices to recover. Punters complain about high prices and buy mail order.
2. Small stock but 24 hour delivery from catalogues = lower prices, but still more than mail order, and punters complain that they wanted the 6 self tappers today.

Lose/ Lose.
