My wiper motor has packed up. It has become very stiff and will not rotate. The motor is made by Wynstruments and has the number IS/130437/6B or it might be 18/130437/68 its difficult to see? The motor must be many years old, I guess it was original fitment when the boat was built in 1980c.

Any thoughts on what to do next?

You can buy new motors. Not knowing what yours looks like, it's difficult to suggest a supplier, but a Google search will find a replacement.

Before you spend (unless you've plenty to splash)
Remove the motor from the boat and drip some light oil down the wiper shaft, working it gently loose with a pair of pliers. If it is seriously siezed, open the motor and undo the linkage inside so you can get a good "twist" at the shaft. Once it's loose, grease everything, check the brushes and parking contacts, reassemble and test.
If it works, put the cash in the diesel fund.

Call B.Hepworth & Co on +44 01527 61243.
They're at 2-4 Merse Road
North Moons Moat
Redditch
Worcestershire
At least that's where WE get our stuff from, but they'll be able to advise where to source your motors. Just give them the serial numbers and they'll help you from there.
Good luck!

Hi,I have a similar motor on my boat c.same age,it packed up ,I took it apart and did what has already been suggested plus a sanding of the spline with fine sandpaper,it works fine now.
