I'm replacing some windows, more than 20 years old. They were stuck and screwed to the coachroof, largely held by the glue. I've now got to get rid of it. It's white, and very rubbery, and a scraper bounces off it. No idea what it is. Reluctant to try heat in case it makes it worse.
Any fellow sufferers?

Sounds like a type of silicone. I would use a very sharp craft knife to cut away as much as poss, you can then buy some "stuff" that desolves the remaining sealant. In the past I have just used a sharpe blade flat against the surface and then re-fitted.

There is a remover for silicone sealant... Can't remeber the name but I've just used it on 25 year old windows to good effect. Got mine from Marinestore at Mersea... You goop it on leave for two hours then wipe off.
