Hi,
Leaking windows.....shucks.

These interscrews have very shallow slots and the screwdriver (ground to fit) just don't want to know. Whats's the best route.?
Give up, drill em out and get new screws.?
Is there a better alternative to these screws.?
Or is there some special tool you have.

thx
Howard

Check the price and availability of the size you require before you resort to drilling them out
Older Westerlies use a size that is not commonly available and they cost a fortune.

Can you cut a deeper slot with a Dremel?

Have you tried undoing the screw-head on the outside of the window? The interscrews might be "glued" with hardened sealant, making them difficult to turn.
Sometimes interscrews have knurled bodies, which would make them even more difficult.

When I replaced my windows I was advised to forget about the interscrews as more trouble that they are worth. Fill the holes and refit using screws and sikaflex. Made easier in my case because I have the fixing holes in the replacement frames drilled in a slightly different place.

Same problem with last boat which had aluminium interscrews, some of which I was able to unscrew, some of which sheared, replaced with stainless ones from Hadlow Marine - here...

Thanks for the links guys.
This is another project, sub-project, which will take longer than I thought.
Temporary weatherproofing (tarpaulin ) needed while parts are on order.
ho-hum.
