Hi

The Windlass on my Fairline Sprint 21 has stopped working in both directions. The control switch operates the solenoid which clicks but there is no circuit through to the motor; possibly contacts, the unit is badly corroded. The unit is a double barrel with a CIMA logo and 12W on one cylinder. I have trawled the net for a suitable replacement to no avail. Can anybody help please.

Many Thanks

Paul

Windlass common fault

Classic case of tripped main breaker/fuse, high amperage breaker will be down by your batteries somewhere, push to re-engage.

The reason you can here clicking of the solenoids is that the low amperage control circuit is still ok, your switch on the dash only switches the low amperage side of the solenoids, so in essence the solenoids are just a remote switch, they switch the high amperage/current through to the windlass, which at the moment is not there because the breaker has tripped.

I agree with enterprise, I had exactly the same problem, found the breaker, mine is in the battery isolation switch box, and hey presto.

Windlass Breaker

Hi,
Many thanks for the response. Should have said I checked breaker, not tripped and established 12V reaching solenoid but not motor. Therefore appears to be contacts but sealed units, hence why I am looking for a suitable replacement.
Thanks, Paul
