Having just purchased a Sheerline 950 for use on the Thames I am looking at options for Anchor deployment and retreival.
The boat currently only has a bow roller and cleat. Although there is a chain locker (accessible from the forepeak) there is no deck acccess to the chain locker at all.
I guess my anchoring is likely to be limited to a safety precaution when moored alongside near places where people find it amusing to untie lines and also for a plan B when all the alongside moorings are taken.
I like the idea of fitting a windlass but dont think it will be worth the expense of buying and fitting an electric version.
A quick google for manual windlass seems to suggest options are quite limited and are mainly quite tall bulky items suited to the foredeck of a yacht.
The low profile electric Lofrans which can be operated with a winch handle looks ideal ....does anyone know if something similar is avaialble as a manual only version?
All suggestions (other than the obvious of throwing it over the side and pulling it manually!) greatfully received.
