After 3 years the SL Horizon electric windlass on my Moody 36 c1997, suffered severe corrosion to the casing. The casing was replaced under warrenty by Lewmar (who took over SL), who suggested the cause was inadequate insualtion between the alloy windlass casing and the stainless steel plate it was mounted on. They also supplied an insulating pad and a special paste to insulate the stainless bolts. 4 years later the casing is again showing signs of severe corrosion. I should add that the windlass is situated in the bow locker where it get regular doses of salt water, but is well flushed with fresh water and dried whenever possible. Has anyone else experienced this problem and come up with any long lasting solution?
