Hi anyone use this site windfinder.com as a weather site?
Seems to generally under forecast wind when compared to met.ie.
Two weekends ago they were right.
Last weekend they predicted F4 for our area - our cruise in company had a lively F6 for company!

Any other recommendations ?

I used to use windfinder but have completely gone off it for under predicting the wind strength.
I've found that xcweather is usually quite acurate, although I still check against the met office site.

Windfinder

We have used windfinder at home and whilst living aboard in the Med for the last 3 years. We have found it to be as accurate as any of the alternatives. It is always best to use it in conjunction with other sites such as BBC, weatheronline.co.uk etc, etc. If I had to choose just one of the many sites available it would probably be windfinder.

I regularly used Windfinder and also Windguru when in the Caribbean but they seem to be interpretations of GRIB data so I also often checked by downloading UGRIB files - you can get the software off the US Grib website.
There was often debate about the accuracy or not of the wind speeds, as out there they seemed to overestimate. However I found that overtime they were both pretty reliable.
In Uk I tend to go to the Met office site and look at the synoptic charts as well as the inshore forecast.

When I'm planning a shoot, I always use windfinder because it's more often right than wrong. I don't use it as much for cloud cover (for sunny weather) I use weather.co.uk which is better for the cloud coverage, but hopeless for wind.

I find the animations on windfinder superb, as you can see the weather systems coming though and their timings are usually pretty good.
