so tonight the last refuge of mobos in the lake district is reduced to 10mph.

while i'm all for the quiet life i think there's a place for all sorts of water users (except perhaps PWCs!) and at least they should be allowed to race, ski etc. one a couple of days a week. what does the team think?

Does the 10mph limit apply to yachts and sailing dinghies as well? Most modern dinghies will exceed 10 mph easily, and there are a lot of yachts on Windermere which would also top 10 mph.

Only to motor propelled boats, so if your yacht can do more than 10mph under power....it can't. If you are motorsailing it is still 'under power'.

There is much confusion. All the literature says 10mph, but the statute (or is it a bylaw?) says 10 knots (and initially the conversion to kmh was wrong) so it's really 11.3mph.
This will be altered to 10 mph apparently as the other lakes are all restricted in mph.It is claimed that only tidal waters should be regulated in knots and inland waters should be in mph. (Their words, not mine)

I would imagine the first few caught speeding will try to make something of the various discrepancies.
