A thoroughly excellent experience and the steamer was handled with style and aplomb.
A favourite expression, when feeding back to students undertaking research projects is "The questions are more important than the answers" I find myself a victim of my own expression and so ask the worldly members of the assembled company the following:
"Is a GPS unit crucial for yachts sailing on Lake Windermere?"
Judging by the number of mushroom receiver thingies that I counted, I can only assume that the answer must be yes, but I cannot for the life of me think why.

A QUESTION OF ALTITUDE

Being as Windymere is not at sea level, but in the mountains. maybe they use GPS for telling whether the tide is in or out on Skellivelyn.? Or maybe those mushrooms just grow naturally in such a damp, foetid atmosphere.

Re: A QUESTION OF ALTITUDE

Ahhh
So the climate supports the mushrooms which in turn orient the sailors, who in turn buy more mushrooms...
This is mushrooming out of control.
