Lovely day, but a bit quiet at Ferry Nab for a Friday lunchtime

Re: Later on

Depends what your business was.
If you were directly involved in powerboating, like Shepherds it has made a dramatic difference. If like Windermere Aquatic you set your stall towards catering for the new regime, well it remains to be seen as they are investing hugely in new jetties and showrooms.
The Low-Wood Hotel has tried to re-allign their business, but they have said the takings in their Bistro bar thingy are down about 35%
The local businesses have mixed opinions. Helen's Chocolates reckon a huge number of chocoholics have left.
As a B&B we don't see much change, we are about 2% down at the moment, but that happened in February and March due to the weather and a late Easter. We've had our best August this year. Most of our guests are quiet "wanderers" who just explore the area.
There has generally been an enormous downturn in the hospitality trade this year, but that is reflected around the country, so isn't wholly due to the speed limit.

It's too early to say, a few years down the road we'll see who has gone, who is still here and who has created new businesses.
The news at the moment is all about the casualties.
