Wind vane repair

Having worked fine for the last 7 years my Nasa wind vane has broke and can be replaces for £12.50.

However looking at it only the tail fin looks to have come off and looks to have been just glued onto the main housing (see picture of where it broke off), has anyone successfully just glued it back on again?

Maybe waterpipe glue.
I would reinforce with plastic plates and wire staples / rivets (Brass panel pins do a job)
