Hi all,
I have a Rutland wind gen and also a towed gen. The Rutland at the moment goes through a regulator to charge house batteries. I want to try out the towed gen but to save effort of running cables from stern to batteries (front end) again I have a plan to add a diode into the + of each out-put wire (I know this will drop the output voltage by about 0.8v) of each unit, then join the out-puts add a switch at the regulator end so as towed gen and wind go straight to house batteries. Apart from the risk of over charging is there anything else I should consider?
Is it acceptable to drop the out-put by about 0.8v
will it be OK to common the negs or should I diode these too
Fuse at battery end or output of each?
Thanks.
