If you send an email to:

gmngrib@globalmarine.net with NorthEurope in the subject they will email you back a compressed grib file. (BZ2 at about 2.3 KB)

Frank Singletons really excellent site:
the grib bit of the site here lists the links to "airmail" to find the decompressing file and an excellent viewfax application..part of the sailmail programme set ..

Works a treat..it is all free, if you've seen it before them I'm sorry..

Good luck

Couldn't get ViewFax to install at first, then came across this on Frank Singleton's website:

"For some reason that I do understand it is not sufficient simply to create a new folder called Airmail and install the Viewer. It seems to be necessary to let the Sailmail software create the folder Airmail even though the only program to be used is the ViewFax program."

You first need to download and install Airmail disk 1 (1MB) which creates the Airmail folder, then install ViewFax.

It now appears to be working. Thanks for the info. Must now get some work done before I go home /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Can't be much information on a .bz2 file of only 2.3kb. The .bz2's I get via MaxSea's e-mail system are 54kb, cover the North Atlantic so you can see the whole situation, provide data at 6 hour intervals for 3 days ahead and 12 hour intervals for days 4 & 5. I call that a really useful weather file.

That is the small single area single period file. You can request a whole load of files similar to what you like.
I'll be using this over a sat link so that is enough for me.
