I am about to fit a Rutland 913 generator to a 'pole'. Does anyone have experience/suggestions/sources of cheaper alternatives to the 16swg stainless tube suggested in the manual? Thanks.

Strongly advise you go with recommended pole. I got a hefty SS extension, a tight push fit into the existing top pole & although I was convinced it was plenty strong enough it has bent. Not much & not enough to worry about but if it has happened once, it can happen again & I dont fancy the fan coming down on me when it is at full speed! Should also provide rigid stays to support the pole, as high up as you can manage, connected to either the deck or the pushpit. Mine is only secured to the pushpit for the lower 2 feet on an 8 foot pole & tends to move a little in gusty conditions.
