I recently bought a "Winch Solenoid Wireless control kit" on eBay. Unfortunately it came without instructions and the eBay vendor is currently on holiday.

I'm not sure what the black and green wires are for..................any suggestions? A power supply, in which case is the green the positive, or are the wires part of the wireless set up?

Thanks

I can't really make sense of the unit you have bought, which looks secondhand. Presumably it came with the remote control as well? If this is a wireless switch then there should be some sort of aerial wire. If you can find a manufaacturers name or serial number then you mind find something on the net.

However, rather than wasting time on this, for a tenner you can buy winch remote control switches with the receiver on Ebay which come with a rudimentary wiring diagram. I have been using a pair of these things for 3 seasons now and am more than pleased with them.

My eBay winch controller has 5 connections including an aerial, so perhaps your green wire is that, can only guess that the black wire might be an earth

I've literally just wired a remote in to Thirsty Work using an EBay remote control.

I used a Quick solenoid to replace the old heavy duty switch and then plumbed in the EBay jobbie - cost of which was £7.

Red & Black for power, an aerial wire and a winch A/B for up/down.
Looking at that photo, it seems like the 4 poles on top are for the winch connections but surely there should be 3 wires for the solenoid activation?

I fitted an eBay wireless controller to my winch. Worked fine except for a lag on letting the buttons go. When I let go either button on my wired remote control the winch stops instantly, when I use the wireless remote the winch keeps going for about half a turn. It's been retired to the chart table.

I bought one of those as well - completely useless for a winch that pulls the anchor onto a bow roller, and I didn't even bother fitting it. However, a different model of equally cheap eBay remote has no lag at all, so it's worth persevering. This is the kind that has screw terminals on the circuit board rather than flying leads with rings on the ends.

Could you put up a link or photo please?
