I have a 1973 Westerly centaur , with original GIBB winches .
Does anybody know if there is any way of getting spare parts for these ? One has failed on me and I dont want to throw it out for the sake of a small part.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Gareth

Hi Jim
I am looking to get 2 springs and the screw that holds the drum down . While i was tacking last week the drum popped up and one spring went over and one was totally bent .
The screw that holds the drum in place looks likt it just broke. Also should there be some kind of bush between the screw head and drum ?
I had a quick look at your website , i am in the same place you were in 2004, my centaur "SeaWitch" is slowely begining to look like a good boat.
What did you cover your forward bert in ? could not really make it out , but it looked nice . I have pulled all the coverings off mine and dont know what to cover it in yet .
Thanks
Gareth

Gareth,

Well the parts you need are there as the winches are complete. But as I recall the springs are far from perfect. Serviceable would be the word I think. I can't remember about any bush, but as I say they are intact.

The covering in the foreberth that you can see is dirt cheap hessian (well the man made equivalent) carpet from carpet right. Stuck on with Evostick. Actually the job isn't finished... (SWMBO says I never finish a job completely!) I still need to batten off the under deck area and then I intend to use rigid pvc sheets to cover that area, white to give some light. Also the forward side of the bulkhead is not covered. I have some vinyl to cover this, I reckoned that carpet would get stained from hands and heads etc. But I am very pleased with the carpet, I could have done a better job of the fitting, but it's only me who notices. It gives a warm look and feel and I get no condensation. Hopefully come the autumn I will finish the job!!!

Back to the winches....

If they are of interest either PM me or drop me an email via Blueys web site and we can sort somthing.

Re: Winch for Westerly Centaur ... grab \'em quick !!

I was going to replace my top action winches with them - but haven't had time to do it .... so Jim still has them on-hand !!

Don't worry - I told Jim not to hang on if they could be put to good use ....
