now chaps... I am worried about Dan Crane - YBW most prominant dinghy sailor

I think that it is time he got afloat

he might get scared of the water if it carries on this way

so could some-one local go to see him, spend a morning getting the boat ready for the water, take him to a local lake and push him out to sink or swim

the whole summer will pass before he sails otherwise

I think he might, eventually and possibly only the once.

After all, I never thought he'd get as far as having a boat, and it's only taken him three years to prove me wrong :)

I'm just waiting for him to start a thread asking whether he needs to stir paint clockwise or anticlockwise...;-)

You must not stir paint anticlockwise.... just as you must not stir your tea anticlockwise .... at least in the northern hemisphere. In the southern hemisphere you must stir things anticlockwise.

On a serious note. I think he has missed some important opportunities always with the excuse that the side-decks are too weak, there have been holes in the hull, it isn't warm enough, the life jackets haven't arrived, the water is wet, etc

It really is time to dip a booted foot into the water, fill the sails (however badly they hang) and have a bit of enjoyment. It doesn't have to be f4, a bit of ghosting about in a fitful f1/2 will be plenty whilst he sorts out his bits and pieces.

I think he may have thought it all through too much and it has become a heavy weight around his neck.

A posse of local forumites to carry him kicking and screaming to the boat sounds like a plan.

You know too much about this poor fellow.
