The Lloyd's Register's library is temporarily closed until January 2005

I'm posting here in the hope someone can point me in the right direction. A friend of my husband own's an old boat and would like to find more about her history.

The information he has given me is she was built in North Wales in 1932 Caernarfon Motor Cruiser length 28'2" beam 9' and 3' draft. He believes she was going to Dunkirk but broke down.

Since no one has replied, this may be of some use.

There are only two Wild Ducks in the 1949 Register both built in the 19th Century. Regarding the builder, could it be John Crossfield Ltd of Conway or A.M. Dickie & Sons in Bangor. I haven't had a chance to go through all Dickie's creations but Crossfield built Heather Bell, a twin screw ketch, in 1932 for a Mr Kenneth W. Stansby of Caernarvon.

I keep emphasizing that I know diddly about all this. I just happened to buy a register for 50p in a boat jumble.

Let us know if you find any other clues.

There was a Wild Duck in Salcombe in the late 60s. A gaff cutter. I guess about 30ft on deck. Oldish so could well be pre 1900.
