hi all.

i remember reading either last year or end of 2006 ish in one of the big 3 (PBO,ST,YM) under new gear type section.
there is a mast top fitted item that works through normal USB on laptop or PC, the item was priced at £200 i think might have been £199.99 but in my head i filed it under £200. now i have since moved house and trawling through my back copies of the boat porn, i am unable to find the report. i know it had a range of 2 miles and was a top mast fit,
i have search on the net as well. but have been unable to find one like it, it looked a bit like a navtex antenna,
if anybody out there has one or knows where i can get one please could you post on here, as i have a few friends who are after the same thing.
enjoy the summer while it's here.

Depending on where you want internet access, you might also want to consider using a 3G USB modem. I have recently gone this route. Modems on 'Three Mobile' are now down to £49.99 on PAYG; and access is £10 for 30days/1GB (only buy when you need it). On South Coast I get a download speed of around 1.5Mb/s everywhere. Vodafone also gets good reports, but works out a bit more expensive depending on usage.

It's not quite the mast top version you looking for but I am looking into this at the mo and several have recommended this one.

Not tried it myself yet - happy to hear report good or bad from anyone else.

I am thinking of going with both the 3 USB stick and the wifi version to find any free spots I can.
