It's an electic toilet and she swears it had just stopped its empty cycle just when her earring driopped into the bowl.

It's a small earring and I am wondering if it would pass through the macerator, or destroy it if I tried to flush it. I did stick the nossle of the aquavac down the into the bowl and it didn't pick up the earring. I have not dared to try switching the toilet on since, for fear of mashing up the mechanism.

Should I risk it and put it through the empty cycle? Or will I need to take the whole lot to bits and search for the item?

If I recall it's only 4 quick thread screw.....................or are you afraid you might see or have to touch a little pooh-let ? :D

Give her the necessary tools and a copy of the exploded diagram from the Jabsco website. Go to pub while she sorts it out!

Don't run the motor, it could damage the macerator (and certainly damage the earring).

If the toilet had just been flushed, there won't be anything nasty lurking in it. You just need to remove the macerator and get the earring out. It can't have gone far.

I had a friend on board who dropped a small padlock key in. The next day (alcohol had been involved) I dismantled the macerator and retrieved the key in a very short time. Reassembly was equally simple and now I would be 'happy' knowing that I could do it again.

Take it to pieces!!!

An excellent and biblically just solution.

From experience get out of earshot and, if she hasn't completed the task, go away again - you may have to repeat this a few times until she realises it's not in jest.

But will she really want it back after that?
And if she does, I think you should refrain from any ear nibbling for a while.

Murphy!s law... spend 2 hour retrieving find missing Crown Jewel. sterilze complete assembly.. Proudly present. and wait for comment. "You dont think Im going to wear that after where it been"

Been there done that except it was the engagement ring, Had to by another at 4 times the cost/
