I am confused now.

I was very careful that there was no libel on the thread.

I have just returned from my boat after a SMEG saga only to find that the thread appears to have been pulled?

Why was this? It was just a report with images of a factual happening on the weekend with personal opinions etc. None that I saw before I left to the boat this morning could be considered libel - did any new post get posted that could be cionsidered libel?

I am seeking an explanation.

I do hope that it wasnt my suggestion on how to wage a campaign at the boatshow?

Or suggesting you might copy another owners actions over engine mounts (on a different brand of yacht).

Not heard anything!!

Surprise surprise

Could you offer for sale a .0001 % share of Ocean Deep for £200.

Then you would have to disclose all problems with photos and couldnt be doing anything wrong at all.

You wouldnt have to accept an offer, you might want to wait for the perfect partner to share your boat for 2 minutes a year (a young blond /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif;)).

You could also advertise at the Boat show in this way (wouldnt need to be a share, anyone interested in a trader would be keen to look).

Trader reacted to this falling off bit within a day and agreed without a quibble to put the parts into manufacture at Emsworth now and to make them with blue gel coat!

Trader also agreed the same day as I posted the new situation on the SMEG hob to replace the SMEG hob on their forthcoming trip to Swansea.

I have not had an answer yet from Tony Chappell - that been over a week now without a response on the matter of just some of the direct bills I have been forced to incur in exposing the problems and the disputed extra invoice. This mail is on the Ocean Deep thread.

James has told me that they are coming down soon to swansea and that he will respond so that we have an agreed Swansea list.

Progress is slow because they are taking about a week to respond to each email.

They are the basic facts of the situation this morning 21st November 2006.

As regards the thread being pulled I am grateful it has been re-instated.

IMHO I have worked with IPC on other magazines outside boating and know for a fact that those mags did not allow advert revenue to interfere with editorial. I really do not think the boating mags are any different. So it must wear them down a bit reading how they shut things down for that reason.

On the other hand, I really think that the solution is just to delete the offending message not the thread. I think that way everyone is happy.

What I am trying to do with Trader is whittle down the long list of faults so that they are all agreed together with a time table and solution. I find it absuird when Tony Chappel writes about clearing matters up early next week and then does not answer the emails himself. So there is still some way to go I need answers. Once the list is finally agreed and we can see what points we have put on the disagreed list it is then much simpler to sort that residual out one way or the other.

There is no wall of silence from Trader now - they respond slowly. The wall of silence was before when they would not answer my fault list for 5 months, nor order parts etc and that led directly to the current public situation.

If I could have, I would have rejected the boat long ago. That has not been an option for me. What I am doing making everything public maybe new and I am lucky to own my own web business but it is proving effective because points are slowly being dealt with. I again thank everyone on the forum for their support as it has provided me with the possibility of a solution to an incredible problem.

Why is there a diagree list ? Did you not buy a brand new boat?
If you had a refurb on an old boat i can understand there may be problems as your probably starting off with existing problems but a new build should be perfect shouldnt it ?

Example: They have not yet agreed to replace the corroded thruster props. These had no anodes left when lifted out the water at Emsworth and the survey report states they have corroded through anodic attack with certain chemical coming out. They want to take the metal down to get to the good stuff and paint - I want replacement because I should have been provided with uncorroded thruster props and anodes should never have been allowed to dissapear whilst in their care. the images of these are on the image gallery on the Ocean Deep site for all to see as is their email refusing to replace, I have argued back - but have had no answer in 8 days.

They sold me a boat with hundreds of faults including major and dangerous faults. I went down each weekend to Emsworth a round trip of some 400 miles just to uncover the faults. Trader did not uncover any!

At thus time Andy Ball, a member of this forum, was a friend inspecting and finding the faults with me. In his own words, which put it far better than I ever could ... its worth reading:-

So even tonight, after all this public airing, after me responding straight away to any response from them, tomorrow morning it will be 10 days since I responded to Tony Chappell – no answer as yet. It will be 8 days since I responded to the faults list making additional points of what we disagreed about – still no answer. Yet they did respond yesterday, in a positive way, to two isolated points.

They know all the mail both ways is being published but even now, after failing to respond to my fault list for 5 months hence forcing me to go public, it is taking a long, long time to sort the matter out. At this rate it will next year before we even agree to disagree!

Now if I was a prospective Trader 64 customer (I actually was one at one time), and I saw the correspondence – it would do more than cast a huge question over proceeding, it would stop me dead in my tracks.

My side of the deal was simple, it was to pay them about £1m for a new boat – that was my part of the contract fulfilled before I even saw the boat. Their part was to deliver a new fully working boat fit for the purpose. The story does border, even now on the unbelievable.

Amazing ! If i build something for a customer and something is not right i replace it . Even if the customer is happy for me to fix the problem i still replace at my expence as in my line of work not doing so will cause a problem later . On the rare occasion this happens that customer becomes top of the list and by fixing the problem right away the problem is forgotten and you become even better in the customers eyes .
It makes no differance to me if the customer has spent £1M or £1000 . If there is a problem its sorted .
