I changed my filters and it takes an age to start since.
I suspected air and others here agreed.
I had already reseated the housing and seals and the fuel happily squirted from the bleed screw but it was still hard to start. Second filter bleeds fine and.
Folk here advised air leaking so I reseated the filters again last night and could not get fuel to exit the primary filter / trap.
I am getting new washers as the aluminium washers were pinched but even when I put my finger on the bleed hole I dont get pressure when i trigger the primer.
The trouble is once it starts it keeps starting so I must wait a day to see if my change works.

Any advice?

One way to help things along is to pressurise the tank from the filler. Seal it with a rubber ball or whatever and blow into it or use a dinghy pump.

I have just (two days ago) replaced the lift pump on my 2030 mainly because it was letting fuel drain back through it (which obviously would affect progress pumping). In the dismantling, I discovered that it pumped 'at the begining' of the return stroke. So if I didn't do a full stroke to start, it wasn't doing much. The other problem was that the lever was working its way out and thus not engaging with the diaphram at all and thus not pumping. Replacement on the 2030 was not difficult and £47.

I had a similar problem with my Volvo MD2030 after several Hours of trying to blead the system I connected my pela oil vacuum tank to the system and sucked the fuel through. Worked like a dream, hardest part was setting up the connections.
