Why or how did ALL these threads get five gold stars?

Almost every thread on this contents page...five gold stars. It does rather reduce the distinction.

I've never worked out how threads get their starry marking, or who is recommending them.

Any clues?

There is a Rate this Thread tab at the top of the post. As it would be poor form to rate one’s own post I’ve done it for you. As only one rating is enough to show 5 stars it’s pretty pointless, so best just ignore it. It was only your post that prompted me to look how to do it and I haven’t taken any notice in the past (and won’t in the future, either).

Hang on, something's wrong here...I just looked at the index page and THIS thread already has five stars, after five minutes and no replies!

Rather makes me wonder about the ones in the list which don't have five stars. :biggrin-new:

Edit - tried again and my notebook is missing some code that enables me to rate threads!

Even in jest, the fact that any individual's biased likes/grudging dislikes make an instant difference, seems either mindlessly indecisive or a boon for democratic representation. Perhaps numbered likes/dislikes would be better?

I don't remember the detail now but a couple of years ago I found that if a particular problem occurred when accessing posts on a smartphone, the post I was reading was attributed five stars for no reason.

At least you are not allowed to rate a thread more than once. I just tried to redress your harsh rating with another 5 stars, but couldn’t

That was a kind thought. Actually I've tried voting too...both favourably, and otherwise. But as you say, it's only one vote per user...

...so now, the only thread which doesn't have five stars, is the one questioning why all the others do. :hopeless: :biggrin-new:
