where it is? I thought that she had hit problems in French rescue territory and apparently she was taken to where she is now and beached in a UN heritage area by 2 French tugs.

Why was she not run aground in France? Am I too suspicious?

It was an Englishman who decided to beach her. And she was headed for Portland. Running her aground in france would have been a tad inconvenient. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Was it? Or was she dragged away from the French coast by French tugs to avoid risk to tourism, fisheries etc over there?

or was it because the depth of water around the cherbourg peninsular is so deep there was not option to beach her there if that became a last resort ...... so if - as happened - she started to founder, she would be deep six now and cause MASSIVE problems

or was it because, as a british ship, the HMG took responsibility for the salvage attempt and decided to head north ........ and maintain control of the situation

or was it simply a result of advice from the professional salvors that north gave more options in the event of a deterioration of the circumstances.........

or maybe its your theory /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
