Why is a flat hose not suitable for drinking water?

I think it's because they are made from fabric and naughty bugs could get in. Add that to a bit of backside covering and the H&S bods will shoot you at dawn if you use it for drinking water.

There are flat hose feels on the market that are actually
two small bore plastic hoses formed together. Looks flat goes on a feel flat but inside bores are not squashed, if you can understand that lol

I was thinking of buying a flat hose to supplement the normal hose that I have that is sometimes to short.

I found this one on the Force4 site.http://www.force4.co.uk/9732/Force-4-50ft-Flat-Hose.html

Why would it not be suitable for drinking water????

Does it really matter? I don't drink tank water because I prefer it chilled. If I'm making a hot drink, I use the tank, but the water is boiled. If there was any plasticiser in there after being in a pipe for a few seconds I'd be surprised. They recently replaced our water main at home; having seen inside the old one, I'm much less concerned about such things.

I use a garden hose bought from Wickes, it's blue which is all that matters to me.
