Colder night temperatures are with us yet again and with it the misery of the drips and runs of moisture from hatches and windows.

The metal surrounds have no insulation break between interior and exterior this surely would be a start to fix that problem and then double glazing options to put the icing on the cake!

Its the 21st century, there must be an answer out there for me even if it is a DIY one.

Our Rustler 44 has double glazed saloon windows as standard. They are excellent. Much less condensation, and with a slight tint less "greenhouse" feeling on those rare sunny dys this summer.

But is the whole point of sailing not getting cold, wet and semi miserable until it's 'tell the story' time? ;)

glazed windows

hi,
we have the usual stainless windows on our westerly. I made up & fitted secondry glazing using perspex over the interior frames, works very well, now NO condensation/dripping windows. We live onboard & this has worked for the past two years.

Yeh I done the same, our main saloon Hatch and V-berth hatch have a nice wooden trim round them, took the screws out of the wooden trim cut some tinted Perspex to the right size, stuck an inch wide strip of self adhesive draft excluding tape round the perimeter and screwed it into place with longer screws into the existing holes.
Come summer time I remove the Perspex and fit the original screws back into the wooded trim.
No more drips or condensation, and cost about £20
I have a picture, but won’t be able to post it till I get back in a week or so from work.

That sounds like a very good idea.
