Doesn't matter if its sealant , you know the one I mean, paint or varnish unless you use the whole tube or tin it goes "off" very quickly !! Not like the old days when paint or varnish and even sealants use to skin over but underneath it was still useable todays stuff just hardens to an unusable "gloop" no matter how carefully the lid is sealed . Why ??? Makes my p*ss boil . /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

The manufacturers will tell you that it's due to the inherent properties of the advanced co-polymer molecular construction of modern synthetics which enhance their protective properties and durability when applied EXACTLY as per the instructions on the tin.
I think it's just so that you have to buy another tin!
But then again, maybe I'm just a nostalgic cynic?

Re: Why dont things last anymore ?? - maybe they do?

Have you thought that maby the modern stuff lasts so well on the boat that by the time you need to do another coat the one in the shed has gone off wheras you use to have to redo it 3 time a year so you stock was always used up befoe it went off.

I dont see a half empty glass I see a positive opportunity for a topup!
