Out water skiing with a mate on his rib and spotted one of those posh yottie types at anchor, right over this hoofin great rock that doesn't show up on anything but the best depth display, tried to warn him but he was too busy slurping his g&t and reading his Mary Whitehouse novel. Thought maybe a closer run might get his attention so went in closer and closer, waving a warning at him that he was in danger of running aground on it, but no, he still didn't want to listen. One final pass just to try and get the message over, couldn't stop in case we ran aground ourselves, and he looked like he was going to get a gun and start shooting
Time to bug out so legged it to open water as fast as we could
Lucky he didn't hit the rock in the end, but it can't have missed by anything more than a few inches
Bleedin knowitall yotties :D

Whether he was 'posh' or not, he probably tells the story differently - "I'm not going there again; there was this rib which kept buzzing round me, yelling inaudible obscenities and making incomprehensible rude gestures."

"...couldn't stop in case we ran aground ourselves..."
I'm not really sure how stopping would increase your risk of running aground either; surely if you considered it possible you were going to hit a rock where you were, it would be better to do so very slowly.

Aaarrh ... One of those! The lesser spotted "Dont touch my boat" as we call them! A few years back my mate Ed helmed my boat onto the visitors pontoon for the first time. He made a really tidy job of bringing it alongside. As we floated past a Rustler 36 on our final approach I put my hand out and gentally fended off his pushpit just to be sure(we may well have cleared anyway). He went nuts ... "Don't touch my boat .. thats how boats get damaged dont you know?"

Turns out he wasn't so great at handling his Ruster 36 when he left the next morning :-)

It's a shame you couldn't have come back in a shabby little dinghy and rammed him with it while shouting "no, that's how boats get damaged"

Not that I would ever do anything like that, nor would I advocate that sort of behaviour. I'm really very responsible in my boat handling......

I'm off now.......!!
