/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif When i look at Taliors heaters:

http://www.taylorsheatersandcookers.co.uk/sp079db.html

You see that the drip feed diesel has a 3 inch chimney
And that the parrafin model has a small 1 inch chimney. Is that becouse of the gas flow needed buy the raw diesel burning in the burnerpot?

Do the pressure parafin stoves vent properly with a 1 inch pipe? Is the differeanc simply to ensure that the diesel burns more effectivly, a requirment not needed for the the parrafin model??

Perhaps....

The link you posted said the diesel flue was 59mm diameter and the kerosene flue was 28mm. The diesel version is more prone to sooting up the flue, so perhaps Taylors think it's better to start off with a bigger flue to allow for some build-up of deposits. Can't think of another reason, and other makes of diesel drip-feed heaters (eg Force 10) use a 1" flue without problems.

Re: Perhaps....

Yes they do all use 28mm for pressure burner heaters paraffin LPG, and the Diesel ones 59mm My sizes were just a size proportion! Not the actual size.

The reason ive posted is that i will need a heater in my new Folkboat, and i do have a spare Talors Diesel that i take off my other boat to clean and store for summer but i dont want to cut such a large hole in my small cabin roof. And its far to big/hot for such a small cabin!

I have made a small heater made in copper, but then i wonderd if the silver solder would melt and the whole thing fall apart!!

Now i have a solid S/S chamber 8 inches (22cms) wide and 14inchs (40cms) long and i want to weld a 28mm flue 1 meter long the heat sourse will be either gas or paraffin burner or a wick alcohol burner.

That ought to keep a small cabin dry and walm in Spring sunmmer up around the artic circel (Stokholm) i saw it marked on a latitude mark half way up the Finish coast!!

I want the flue to vent the damp and fumes!I just wonderd if 28mm was to small??
I hadent thought of sooting!!Even though i clean mine every year and the burnerpot sometimes has to be emptied/ cleaned twice a winter!!
