Who\'s Valves?

I have two bronze seacock valves on the boat which I thought were Blakes one 1 1/2" & 3/4" to the sea toilet.
They have square nuts to accept the missing on/off lever or wheel.
However Lavac-blakes say they are not Blakes as the top nuts described are differant.
I can not see any names on the valves
The levers or handles were missing when I purchased the boat and I want to buy new handles or leavers if possible other than having some made especialy for the job.
If they are original then they would have been fitted sometime between 1987-to 1989
So who make valves that look very like Blakes?

Re: Who\'s Valves?

Can't tell you who's (sic) valves they are but I solved a similar problem with a ring spanner from a Lidl's set of cheapies cut down to length. It fitted snugly and I added some Sikaflex just to keep it retained. Cheaper than Blakes and you still have the rest of the spanners.

Re: Who\'s Valves?

From the vintage probably Simpson Lawrence. Could also be Rowe, sold by now defunct South West Marine Factors. Distinguishing feature is that the 1 1/2 valve has 3 bolts compared with 4 on a Blakes. I have just replaced a 35 year old Rowe because the cone had gone oval beyond repair by grinding in, so leaked. Coughed up the £120+ for a Blakes in the expectation that it will outlast me. Anyway I have the old Rowe, complete with handle which you are welcome to. Post a pic of yours so that I can compare.
