Who\'s Going to Have A Boat Tomorrow!!

When I left my boat on Friday they were already experiencing difficulties and part of the marina in pieces. Should I worry. From the North I'm tied to three big cleats. But from the South only one. cos thats all there is. No good complaining, thats it just one. I have complained. But the marina is second hand and has compleatly disolved once. Am I worrying to much <font color=blue>The X invisable Volunteer/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif<font color=red>

Re: Jus bin out to rescue dustbin

Just checked mine and I wasn't too happy so I have tied on extra lines. Thought I saw Haydn's floating past but it was moving too fast to tell. I may have to take the Launch out later if people's boats start breaking away and drifting down river. My stretch is the longest on the Thames 7½ miles between locks.

Could go and collected em all up from lock gate area,at end of blow and sell um all back to proper owners at small but profitable salvage fee.
could also leave all lurchwoods to well deserved firewood final resting place.

So thats how you make your money, waiting for boats to float by and claiming salvage.

I would try it but dont think I would like it in the russel today!

Old boat not mine anymore and in any case its ashore, new boat in a big plastic tent so off to check its ok in a mo when hang over subsides.

For sale, 1970 Triumph Spitfire-sold, 1947 Lambretta, 1922 Great grandmother, PM for details.

Now I'm really confused. /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

This thread started Yesterday , that means that Tomorrow is in fact Today and therefore we will all know the answer to the original question. Making the thread obsolete. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

and yep my boat is still parked outside my back door - safe and sound.

...then I would do the deal (subject to payment terms). One thing I have (correctly) learned from you folks though is that this is the most unresponsive , poorly managed, customer-averse, rip-off industry around.

Although you folks (rightly) criticize me for not yet having bought a boat. Some of the ar**holes and the behaviour we have encountered have been unbelievable. In talking to TCM I was reminded that aout a year ago we verbally concluded a deal for a Portofino 400 only for the broker to welch on the deal as 'it was already promised to someone else'. Not a question of price , we were just back-up to a contractually-committed deal , fortunately for me ( but not the surveyor), it hadn't cost me any money yet. And last week 'the boat is no longer for sale'...please.

So chances of a golden angel bearing gifts by midnight. Not zero but I wouldn't open a book against it.

I know mines safe and sound, however, it wouldn't be if it was out here! Its' now blowing 70 knots steady, seas mountainous (at least cairngorm size) and it doesn't look good for tonight, we have already rigged safety lines and we are not allowed outside shielded areas, looks like a bad night coming, the supply boats are disappearing behind the waves and they are BIG ones, not yer southern northsea boats! This is going to be fun! Even the platform is shaking with the wave impact, not nice when you're 200 feet up!

I recall one such day when the sea was coming over the cellar deck. The safety officer needed to get extra radios (Motorolas @ £1000 a piece) across from the semi-sub to the platform and he had this 'washing line' rigged between the two. Secured each radio in a plastic bag, attached to pulley and pulled them across to rig.

Unfortunately, there was a hot-air vent below the pulley on the rig side which melted the plastic bags.
