Afternoon all :)

Looking for a recommendation on insurers for live aboards

Currently on trot in the river dart, but if the lockdown continues I may have to anchor somewhere and I'd rather be insured just incase the worst happens! Would hate to have to tell another sailor if no insurance!

Y don't do single handed trips of more than 18 hours, this might be an issue.

They do have a nice liveaboard content insurance policy. 18 hours (on purpose) should be enough for UK coastal and the occasional channel trip? They didn't quibble my pretty limited experience at all for inshore / coastal, which was my main worry.

On most cases I'd agree, but Devon to Brittany can be more than an 18 hour crossing.

Not sure about their live aboard policies. But I can recommend GJW who were very decent and prompt in paying out after we had 'an incident'.

When I contacted them for comparison, GJW told me they won't quote for our situation. 12 months in commission, mooring based, Algarve , (which has more benign weather than UK). Stayed with Y Yacht.

Were also on a trot on the Dart(Kingswear side by higher ferry). Not liveaboard but down from staffordshire most weekends for the past 7 years. We have 12 months in commission from GJW, also single handed/night sailing but don't know about liveaboard with them. Try them. Im going to call as to how the insurance is with not being able to visit for maintenance.
