Our last boat had a clipper bow and was easy to gauge when it neared the pontoon because the anchor was probaby half way across the potoon even tho we still had feet to go before inpact. Now we have changed to a plumb stem boat and so by the time I'm thinking we are somewhere near the pontoon Janet is warning of iminent impact. So I thought of a bow fender.

The normal horse shoe inflatable is fine if one marina is regularly used (the home port) but as we live aboard and every marina is new to us its difficult to pre judge the required hight for the fender. But I've seen a plastic sheet about 20mm thick bent around the bows, it was about 600mm (2 ft) tall so offered loads of protection from possible grazes as the bows touch the pontoon. Apparantly it was bought from the Soton boat show some years ago. Have you seen one or know who sells them?
