Who makes these massive inflatable boats?

Not much can be as grim, nor as big an international moral dilemma, as the thousands of illegal immigrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean and dying, doing so.

But separately, I'm wondering who makes these massive inflatable boats which they seem to favour as their craft, and what was their intended purpose.

Are the boats as vast as they look, or are they just crammed with emaciated bodies?

They are cheap and easily made in any garage and are intended to be used for only one trip, therefore are treated as 'disposable'... as are the contents.

Here is another example of cramming on a 'proper' boat...

That is one reason why rescue ribs try to approach 'in-line' and rarely from the side because many times the immigrants would move to the side and cause the boat to capsise.

Sorry to trivialise, but that's nothing compared to the French yachts I've had alongside...

On another note I always thought a bouncy castle might make a good raft, as long as one wants to go downwind...

Don't know who makes them but have just got back from holiday in Kos and can advise there are plenty left in harbours and some even on the beach, mostly half deflated due to splits so would guess they are cheaply made, plenty of life jackets strewn around as well
