It would appear that some on the forum are better aquainted than others, so who do you know? And where did you meet? I don't know anyone, nearly got to know Cynthia but she left the country before I got to her berth)
I met JJ at the YM stand, and NigeCh, Twister Ken and Vyv Cox in the Guinness stand at the London Boat show in January, I met Violetta and Marsha last summer, when we had a potter down river ensemble, and I met Ian Wright last Thursday and wesnt sailing with him on Saturday. That's all that I know!
Ive often wondered what other forum members look like, are the ones I imagine to be gnarled weathered and grey bearded, actually small pink and wearing thick glasses?
Maybe YBW could arrange a members only beer tent at the S'oton Boat show.
There was a meet a year or so ago at the RNLI headquarters at Poole, attended by about 20 of us if I remember correctly. Maybe it's time to repeat it. I wonder if we could try Trinity House at Harwich?
I've sailed with Humperdinck and Tom Morris (a one-time poster on the board). I sailed with Saumur [who posted on the old-style SB] before I had even heard of this forum. I hope to sail with Violetta and meet some of the East coast mafiosi in September.
Only if you lose your way and end up down the cheap end! Nice boat yours, think we were anchored up near LB earlier this year. Was up your end at the week-end playing around on Audacious, a First 47.7.
Just get them to arrange a free beer tent full stop!
If you are a poster then you could wear a name badge.
For fun you could wear someone else's, I would go as tcm from MBC then everyone would think I was this loaded geezer from Yorkshire. They would also be amazed at how handsome and debonair he is, also as they would be creeping up to me they would be buying me drinks all day))
Yes, I fancy we probably could. Would you like me to ask, or will you? I am on terms with their ex-Commordore and Hon Solicitor, if that would help. What date would suit?
I was cultivating a slightly reasonable reputation around here amongst the nicely spoken saily types and you've gone and wrecked it! You complete and utter brainless...
(oops. This is actually yorkshire people getting on v well indeed...)
Ah yes, not to worry your reputation remains intact just so long as you keep denouncing s/p's, but as previously mentioned I am living in exile from 'rite siide 'o t' hills' (hlb country, but don't tell him). However I have learnt many traits of the natives here, main one being keeping WIP (wallet in pocket))
Well, I've never 'met' s/y Mirelle except on the net, but had the pleasure to have a beer with man behind That was in the 'non-sailing capital of the world', Beijing.
BTW, I'll be crossing the wake of s/y Sjöfröken in a couple of weeks with a folkboat.
Kaj Kuusisto you are not a "new user" - you practically started Scuttlebutt!"
I need to return your copy of Adlard Coles' "In Finnish Waters", which you kindly loaned me in Beijing, but the slip of paper with your address on got lost in packing when we came back from China - please email me at acraigbennett@aol.com and I will drop it in the mail.
