May - amble out by car through Northern Europe to boat in Sweden; do the year's refit in a week in the shed; launch and complete refit.
June - August (third week) cruise somewhere ) probably Stockholm ,Aalands, Mariehamn, Helsinki and Tallinn.
Probably the Balthazar Restaurant in Tallinn though the garlic Ice cream -probably not again.
The Saimaa lakes are tempting though; but also is going back to Blankaholm for Sonja's Fish Soup - decisions - decisions.

Thats a very good question indeed???Im getting very worried as april gets nearer, when the winters so walm and wonderful as it is march and april could be wet and windy

Since we blew the doors off a storage facility i have to stay away from Toulon for a while untill the matters forgoten, they dont know who did it --yet.

My provisional idea would be to cruise along to the canal du midi arriveing by April as the port prices double and tripel for summer!! then eat and drink my way through summer tied up to various canal banks (for free)

OR take a small plywood cruiser thats available for free (if its not rotten) to Belgium and cruise the Belgium canals there free un bureaucratic and not all are crowded the food is just fantastic the woman wonderful helpful and great cooks,

The only small down side is that Belgium make the best bier in the world and many types a bier a bier tasting gastronomic summer at reasonable cost it could be,unfortunately i cant drink bier!!!I could happly bring my wine reserve with me though a 5m boat lacks storage space!

OR go back to Sweden and spend summer renovating a boat that i can have for free there(Id have to pay yard charges. And live on my folkboat that i havent sold yet im asking 1200€ which is very inexpensive but no takers. Then i could go to Blankaholm for Sonja's Fish Soup?and see how it is sounds good. All noted from someone that knows the Baltic well(post above)

So you see i really dont know yet.

Now therein lies a great story worth telling I am sure???
Sounds like your in quite an enviable position, so many choices. Why not drink and eat your way through the french Canals (something I really must do one day) and then hop over to Belgium and teach yourself to drink beer?
Or the Swedish idea sounds nice, though I guess you will have no time afloat in that case.
I am surprised you haven't sold the folkboat, surely a gallanter little craft is yet to be found and the price sounds good in my opinion.
Still you have alittle time to make your decision.
In the past I have spent some down where (I believe) you are, in Cavalaire mesing around on boats, would love to return but i think I would not get a mooring these days for an 11m boat that I can afford and without a waiting list that runs beyond my time on this planet.

Cavalaire! Everywhers expensive today, even winter though thats afordable if need be

Yes im surprised i dident have anyone look at my FB.A few made offers but when they found she was in the Baltic vanished!

The the sweeds as shes there are the worst! Not one offer and better boats than mine for just a few euros more mines built in 1947 one of the first and in jolly good order in the med shed fetch far more! But getting up a rivers not like comeing down! She cost me 2100€ plus work and material as she was owned by a spanish

As for bier.Belgium biers the best,so much choise but i prefer wine!Guezs Kriek is wonderful,i once moored in Belgium by an old cafe they said if i wanted it i could clear an old celler!!!!!!!It had old kriek and Gurez pluse a few others and some wine

The clearing had to be done with care as the bottles can explode with age i got all out and stayed put untill they were drunk! The wine and a few i took with me.

That autum i spent the day with a good book and the kreig alternating with standing by the gaurd rail when no one was passing! Wines better!

Perhaps the FB would sell better in the UK, but then getting her there is another story.
Tomorrow I am off to Aberdeen for two weeks where I am sure it will be cold and my thoughts will be looking to Summer on the boat, I am not sure I fancy the Med coast of Spain, even Almerimar I am sure it will be busy with few good anchorages and lots of expensive crowded marinas, but needs must. Maybe next year we will head up to the Rias and maybe home to the cold for a while.
If we had more time we could head for the canaries maybe taking in Madeira, but thats wishful thinking at the moment.
In the next couple of years want to start spending more time on the boat, 2 months a year at the moment but want to get to 4 or 5 months. The wife wont give up the day job, worried about losing the pension and all. I can take as much time as I like but I wouldn't want to do it alone.
But if we get to Spain/Portugal I can just go down to the boat for a week or so and leave her at work lol. Can't really do that in Greece.
So, Aberdeen, hope my 3g card works for getting the internet or I really will be lost, two weeks in a log cabin and some hard graft, hope it doesnt snow.

There will be long weekends around the Solent. June has a trip to St Vast penciled in then in July, the last two weeks we're off to the South of France and if my friend hasn't wrecked his Bav 36, we're off on that for two weeks. Lots of anchoring, but must get into St Trop for a night. There will be a an extra long Aug bank hols sail the of course in Sept the Scuttlebutt trip to Cherbourg. There might be another trip to SoF, but to early to say yet.

I was up there 2 years ago.Amazingly there was plenty of room, well enough,The biggest drawback is that you have to pay everywhere! Nothings free??Though there i managed to stay for free!!Most of the port staff are happy to tell you theres no mooreing for free!!Its almost true.

Untill there you will find free anchorages i did in the bay and even ports that dont send someone around. As your comeing from the north,South its pay pay pay (though not like the med!!! about 12€ pn perhaps more now??)As you get further south you get "Tides" thats water that moves by itself and always against??

If you get to close to shore you might be left without water at all!!!It just vanishes???A mystery?? Youll love it great food great people and villages!!

If you understand this "Tide" thing??(everywhere will give you a "little book"
with times and hights????No idea why') perhaps just their ways. Not like the med at all!! Great all the same
