Who do we tell about interruption of mooring services?

The drying yacht wall at Eigg pier will be out of service for a few weeks next month, whats the best way to let any potential visitors know?
The wall is hidden from the sea and dries out, so someone aiming to just squeeze in before the water is too low will be in for a nasty shock.
It has been suggested that we inform RYA, but should anyone else know?

Perhaps a mention in the 'Blue Moment' site.....?

Er, just done that. Saved someone else the bother.

You're welcome.....

I doubt notifying the UKHO would work. I get the impression from this forum that most Scottish members haven't bought a new chart since 1970, so they've probably given up on chart updates.

I admit I don't check the see if there are updates to the pilots very often at all and I suspect I'm not the only one.

Flyers in nearby harbours and adjacent pubs/hotels might work for some. Maybe as far down as Tobermory.

Bit late by the time you've travelled there, with all your kit ready to do whatever it is you're planning to do.

Pete

There are other facilities, places to tie up, moorings (if you smile sweetly) and a couple of anchorages. Just that its possible to come unstuck if scraping in to that wall as the water is dropping.

Worth a call to Isle of Skye Yachts? They seem to make up a good chunk of the traffic in that part of the world.

Edit: on second thought, not the type of yacht that's likely to (intentionally) try drying out...

Many thanks all for the suggestions, please keep 'em coming.
The precise dates are not yet known, currently we are thinking "we really ought to do something" but the question is what, how and how much time needs to be spent on this to be reasonable.
For now, a rough guide is 3, possibly 4 weeks starting in October.

We will probably publish an official notice soon and we will post that here, there and everywhere (I guess)

Is there something wrong with the sea bottom or the face of the wall, or is it just that it's in use for something else (log exports). I don't think you'll do much better than a nice big sign saying "SEA BED FOULED" (or whatever the problem is) in foot high letters at the wall.

Yes, it could be a little fretful.
The drying wall may be another unwarranted EU intrusion into Scottish affairs, but a very useful place to dry out.
Is Lola still in the vicinity, Dougal? Please say hi to her owner if you bump into him.

Lola has been traded in for a... not sure what difference... model.
