So today I become the latest in a growing number of forumites without a boat.

The W24 is loaded onto a trailer heading for Harwich, the ultimate destination Goteborg in Sweden.

I can't say that I am upset, relieved perhaps but not upset. The sale of Go West is the final job I had to do to finally wrap up the Westline business. I surprised myself that it was 2 1/2 years since I started the venture, and while certainly not the most profitable thing I have done it was not without its merits. I make a point of not regretting anything, and on a positive note I learnt a lot from the whole process.

I dont know when, or even IF, I will get a boat again. There is the possibility of a joint venture with another boatless forumite but for now I have to concentrate on other things. I have a busy year ahead with the new job and relocation, so i think any boating will be consigned to that of willing ( and free - I make a good cup of tea) crew for anyone who will have me.

So that's it, no boat for the first time in 5 years, and no family boat for the first time in...well...ever. Im not sure if Go West ever really felt like mine, but I cam to like her in her own way.

Oh well, onwards and upwards...

sorry to hear about your boat loss. I too am boatless, but not for long I hope. I remember your many posts over the years of your exploits and for your contributions to forumites messages for help.
Moving as well as job change can be quite stressful so hopefully someone will get you back on the water to de stress.
Good luck

Glad the sale went through in the end. I'm sure you'll get plenty of trips on forumite boats. It seems nearly every other mobo sale I hear about at the mo is to Scandinavia.

After five years of boat ownership I can't imagine being boatless myself, but with the berthing renewal just in, a four figure outdrive repair bill soon to thud through the letterbox and lousy business this year the expense is currently hard to justify, and the thought of selling until times improve has crossed my mind. However, there's still so much I want to do and we've had our best season ever this year logging over 800nm, so I'll be wincing and signing that berthing renewal, but all thoughts of something bigger are firmly on hold for now, despite a likely looking option north of the border.

time to quote Arnie, Jez...

What, "Bodybuilding is much like any other sport. To be successful, you must dedicate yourself 100% to your training, diet and mental approach."...?

Anyway ... well done Jez, glad to hear you got there in the end, hope the funds transfer thing that we discussed worked out ok. See you in Yarmouth?

Cheers
Jimmy

Thats not "Whitelighter Out" - I trust.
More like "Westline Out" - I should think.

I'm sure you will be at the Wokingham meets for a while as well.
The meet is as much for the boatless as the boatfull people - I know - we've been there.

As Jimmy says - see you in Yarmouth?

Congratulations on the Sale of the W24. I can understand your relief at selling her, brings an end to the past! I am sorry the whole Westline thing did not work out, as it could have been great. Issues with an inexperienced yard and a product line that was always compromised meant it was not to be!

Glad you look back with some fond memories, and every time you see a westline it will remind you of a great couple of years trying your best to make it happen.

Hope the new job and relocation works out, and as you know so many of us you will never be without a boat to go on!

I hope to be hearing about another Greek adventure in a few years,

Chin up

Paul

Well done, Jez, I'm pleased you managed to sell her. Sorry that Westline didn't work out as you planned but as you say, you learn something from every experience, good or bad. Best of luck with the new job and relocation

As an infrequent poster but keen reader of these forums, I would just like to thank you for your many contributions, always willing to lend advice and your exploits over the last 5 years have been interesting to say the least. Your obvious passion for boating will not see you boatless for too long. Good luck to you Jez.

Hi Jez,

Those 2 1/2 years flew by and it was nearly 2 years ago I met you at the Southampton boat show.

Good luck in your new adventures and go and buy yourself a cheap RIB for some fun in the summer.

Well done on the sale of GW Jez, and good luck on the next chapter. Drop by next time you're in the Med -there is a forum boat going out most days! And as I mentioned to Martyn Meddreamer, keep your icc up because it is dead easy hiring a 20-25 footer (ribs, centre consoles, cuddies) for the day in most French mediterranean ports if you have ICC, so that's an easy way to get a fix

I remember your wonderful event-rich Greek delivery trip write-up around the time I had ordered my boat (sail) but was waiting for delivery....you had me panicking that I might have to go through a similar experience.... All the best from a Raggie
