White Heather\'s website

I would like to promote the website I have put together for my Manx Nobby 'White Heather' through this forum.

If any of our readers have an interest please follow the link and take a look. I would also value greatly any feedback.

I am aware that there are a few errors in it and will one of these days go through page by page making corrections.

Cheers

Re: White Heather\'s website

Absolute stunner , and excellent website too , hope I can manage as good a job on my project . Were you working on her during leisure time in the winter, or almost full time ? .

Re: White Heather\'s website

Thanks for the compliments gents. The work was all done in spare time - sailing in summer and working in winter weekends and holidays. broke the work down into bits that would take a winter to finish.

In fairness when it came to the deck which is shown in the restoration section the task was so big I had a shipwright friend - Ken Harris who famously restored the Brixham Trawler Vigilance over 50 years!) work on her for about 9 months.

A lot of the timber was reclaimed - the greenheart for the covering boards, the combings hatches, deckbeams etc were previously decking planks from a roadbridge that was being refurbished. The deck planking was from roof joists (9x3) from an old workhouse.

PS I think there were lots of White Heather's - mine certainly wasnt the first..

Re: White Heather\'s website

That's a beautiful boat, a lot of very hard work and a very nice website. Thank you for sharing that with us. I'm particularly impressed with anyone who buys a 5 tonne oak tree and makes his own planks.

Good luck and fair sailing!

Hi Mike

Thanks for the tip re Gladys

I knew Paul had her but wasnt sure what stage they had got to.

I will be getting iin touch with them shortly for a chat but reading the website it looks as though sadly they have their hands pretty full at the moment with Keeweydin's repairs - they must be heartbroken - there but for the grace of god eh?
