I have heard thru the vine over the past few years about the TOT CLUB when passing through Antigua and also now know the easiest way to upset a RYS member (that cares) is to fly the white ensign burgee.

"Unique to the Tot Club is its White Ensign burgee.* The White Ensign is very jealously guarded by the Royal Yacht Squadron as the only club in the world whose members are permitted to wear the Royal Navy’s White Ensign.* The Tot Club obtained consent from the Admiralty to incorporate the pre-1801 White Ensign into its burgee and it is proudly flown from members’ yachts.* The Tot Club also obtained permission to hoist the White Ensign in Nelson’s Dockyard on special days such as the Queen’s birthday and anniversaries of famous British naval successes such as the Battle of Trafalgar. *The Flagstaff in Nelson’s Dockyard was restored by the Royal Naval Tot Club and has subsequently been restored again by Antigua's National Parks"

Occasionally, Members are subject to a Court Martial for any manner of misdeeds which may range from the abuse of alcohol to failure to bring pork pies when returning from the U.K..* A Member subject to a Court Martial is guilty until proven guilty and, although an attorney may be employed by the defendant, the attorney could himself be subject to a Court Martial if he puts up too vigorous a defence.* A good defence attorney will ensure his client receives a sentence greater than that proposed by the Court.* Penalties vary from being forced to drive a couple of miles, windows closed and air conditioning off, with one of the local tramps as a passenger to being hanged from a tree in Nelson’s Dockyard and pelted with rotten fruit and eggs.

So now you know

So anyone here a member? I was invited to a Tot meeting having voiced on a table about reading a book on Nelson and someome on another table said 'fancy a quick test on Lord Nelson which would conclude with some rum' :-)

Anyone could fly the so-called "Queen Anne ensign". It's not the White Ensign and not under Admiralty jurisdiction. The Grand Turk has been seen flying it.

Ols white ensign

I can't quote the authority, but I believe the Queen Anne ensign was white without the large St George's cross.
This was the ensign worn by the Royal Norfolk and Suffolk Yacht Club up to (about) 1890, when the Admiralty decided to enforce the Merchant Shipping Act.
It is also the white ensign flown by the Admiral of the white in Nelson's fleet.
One way and another, Great Britain, or the United Kingdom, or just plain England has a dog's breakfast attitude to flags of all sort. It no longer bothers.
When the US Navy has sunset, their flag is reverently folded and stowed in a special box for the night.
Aboard HM Ships, the quartermaster tucks it uncer his sweaty armpit and then shoves it in the corner of the quarterdeck locker, sucks his teeth, scratches his scrotum and goes below.

Currently a member, sat the test with two interrogators, got the T-shirt and the ensign. Swotted up on Nelson and sank more rum than I can remember.

Going back to Antigua this year and hope to introduce some new members......if I'm allowed.
