I have lost the ratchet mechanism in my port side davit , ie , it winds up and down but doesnt lock with the clicking noise , allthough im sure my marina nieghbours dont mind the lack of noise  . does anyone know if they are repairable or do i buy a set of snap davits to replace them ?. It is a PITA to use the swim platform with them there BTW .

I'm sure they are repairable and a call to Cooney (who own Whittall since 2005) will supply the required spares.

You might not be that lucky Andy, they were not interested in spares at all when Roger( a good friend of mine ) sold the company.

The fault you have is a simple one, its a piece of spring steel thats broke on the clutch, a stripdown will reveal the problem, sometimes it can be fixed witha piece of plastic and a cable tie.

I have a nice pair of ED17 davits here for sale off a Princess 440 if anyone wants them.
