The fuel pump failed on the Piccolo generator.
It's a Magneti Marelli, MAM00008, as per the photo.
It's a very common type of pump, used in a whole host of cars, with a wide variety of equivalent pumps available.
I'd like to know what the flow rate of the pump is, and how many amps it takes at a nominal 12v.
I thought that because it's so common, simple things like flow rate and power requirements would be easy to find online, but so far I've failed. I just get lots of advertisement's to buy it or an alternative.
Fault finding the pump was difficult, the generator would run for 20 to 30min then stop, so initially I didn't think it could be a faulty pump.
However, it turned out that the generator was being gravity feed from the main diesel tank, with a head of about 600mm, and although the gravity flow was enough to get it started, it wasn't enough to keep it going continuously.
Knowing both the flow rate and the power consumption, would have helped.

Its flow rate is at least 95 l/hr and its output pressure is 0.2 bar (3psi) nominal. The electric consumption will be so low it's affectively irrelevant.

A better quality alternative (arguably OTT) is a Facet Cube - my Whisper Power generator has one fitted - part number 40288, the output pressure is 3 - 4.5psi and the flow rate is up to 30 US Gallons / Hr = 114 l/Hr. Its max rated head is 36", or 914 mm, which is slightly better than the Magneto-Marelli part. But you pay for what you get, the Facet is 2x the price.

Thanks jdc, the flow rate is well in excess of the 1L per hr the Piccolo use.
In the worst case, near empty tank and empty stand pipe. It would need to lift about 1m, 0.1bar.
I'm not worried about the electrical consumption. Just knowing what it should be would let me put a multimeter in series and measure the current. Much quicker, and a lot less messy than disconnecting diesel lines and having diesel all over the place.
I've replaced it, temporarily, with a Facet Posi-Flow 60104, which came off an old Fischer-Panda, because that's what I had in the spares box. It's a solenoid pump, I'm not sure what the Magneti Marelli is, but it did "tick".
