Which wires to connect

Hi all,
I am about to install a new DSC VHF Radio from Standard Horizon & plan to connect it to an Eagle (budget Lowrance) plotter via a NMEA cable from the plotter.
The Standard Horizon installation info refers to the colours of the Standard Horizon plotter and not the Eagle cable colours.

Are these colours standardized for NMEA cables?

NMEA0183 does not specify cable colours and NMEA0400 standard does not either, though it does specify tinned, shielded, twisted pair of around 24 - 28 AWG. Your lowrance manual should identify NMEA + & - out cables, connect these to the NMEA + & - identified in the VHF manual, RF ground the shield on the connecting cable at the talker end only.

If you check the manuals supplied with the kit, these should indicate the correct colours to connect. If in doubt, give their tech team a quick call. I am doing the same with Garmin to Nasa. Manuals were't 100% clear, but clarified when calling NASA.
