Which Window sealant?

The previous thread reminded me that I should find out what is the recommended sealant to use for windows. I seem to recall that one should apply a non-hardening polysulphide (or summat loik tat). Can anyone be more specific?

a butyl rubber compound, pbo did a feature about it a couple of months ago, and used arbomast, google for more details...

Arbo products are good. Several types to choose from- I think I used 1096 for my aluminium to glass seal. This stuff I'm told is relatively easy to remove if the job needs to be done again in the future.

Do not use Sikaflex appears to be the received wisdom from those who have as it is virtually impossible to remove and thus similarly impossible to part the glass from the frame at a later date

I used a butyl type from glass merchants, it was sandwiched between paper and about 1/8th thick X 3/4inch wide. Doesnt set and was extremely easy to use.used on front w/screen and had a lot of water on it with no leaks, would use again.

There's Sikaflex and Sikaflex. I've used the 295UV variant with good results; as did the previous owner of the boat. Never experienced undue difficulties removing old sealant or windows. Indeed, I rather like the idea that there's some mechanical strength/permanance to the fitting. Maybe the problem is peeps using the wrong Sika formula.
