I need a VHF for a 24ft cat. very interested in navman 7200, like the idea of the built in barometer, saves an extra bit of kit on a smalll boat. Any one used one? Performance ease of fit and integration to GPS etc.
A full featured fist mike usefual as its a tight fit crawling in and out of hull to adjust things!
Also considering Silva S10, Cobra and Nasa 35 (cause its v.cheap in Marine Super store just now, but doesn't seem to be as waterproof as the rest). The new ICOM also looks nice and is small, so handy but a bit pricy. Any other suggestions / experiences welcome.

I've just bought the Navman. It seem to be a fine piece of kit. The rotating knob for choosing the correct channel is great, much nicer than the up/down keys.

The only dissapointment I've had uptill now was that it does not output the GPS coordinates when it receives a DSC alarm. A foolish software error I think, because all the hardware is there to do it. But if you are not into chartplotters and NMEA, that should not be a problem.

Interfacing with a Garmin GPS 126 for GPS datafeed (data TO the VHF) was no problem.
It feels quite rugged, and you can turn off the internal speaker and just use the external.
Display is full of information, however a bit crowded.

Cheers,

Arno

you will see some posts on PBO forum right now - I have just ordered an Icom 421 (at 219), small boat next to me over the weekend has just fitted the 4200 and is delighted with it so far.
Some are experiencing problems connecting to GPS with the NASA, or from a Navman GPS depending which side you believe may be at 'fault'!

We bought and it works very well the Raymarine 54e. Easy to use and its water proof. Oh yeh! its not expensive either, ours was £180 or £190. Its strange that the Swindleries dont seem to keep it.

Bought mine from them, very quick delivery too.

I think it is a great set comparable to many twice it's price.

Would definitely recommend.
