hi all,

we have two manual toilets going to a waste tank. Can i ask what is the best toilet paper to use so as to minimise the chance of me having to do some unblocking duties!! :(

thanks

It doesn’t matter which brand you use if you never put any down the toilet. That is what we and I think many other boat owners do and have never had a blockage. Also make sure you pump out with lots of strokes, easier if you have a sea toilet, with holding tanks there may have to be a compromise I guess.

Either spend a fortune on the Marine Grade or get the cheap version in Tesco etc which does break down. They are more or less the same.

I've had various boats over many years and have used all types of toilet paper and have never had a blockage caused by toilet paper. Worst blockage was caused by crystals from p155 narrowing the pipe so much that anything would block it. Boiling water and vinegar did the trick that time, once I'd worked out what the blockage was!

Another vote for not putting toilet paper in the boat loo. Instead use nappy bags for toilet paper disposal which are very cheap, and bin them responsibly ashore.

In fact pee only the boat loo whenever possible. Use shore facilities for other duties.

Cheap electric Jabsco: Takes Andrex no problem. Never ever had a blockage. Know people who rather disgustingly bag up their paper like a Greek holiday resort in the '80's,. yet have issues though.

It ain't the paper :p

Ive always put paper down my Manual jabsco toilet never had problem, but it does not like wet wipes , a friend flushed some down by mistake , and I had to strip the toilet not nice job gagging, always tell everyone not to use wet wipes now ,but honestly never had blockage from using normal toilet paper

Went to Greece 2 years ago. They are still bagging bog roll there........

We use single ply Sealand paper from LeeSan. https://www.leesan.com/shop/dometic-sealand-single-ply-toilet-rolls-pack-of-4.aspx

As long as you are sensible about the amount of paper that gets flushed, this works well for us. It is more expensive than domestic bog roll, but when it comes to sticking your arm in a bowl of effluent, or paying a bit more for the paper, I will leave you to make the choice.

+1 to this. It is pretty thin though!!!

Like another said in this thread, if we didnt put it down the loo, my wife would stop boating!!!!

Not had a problem to date.
