You only need high breathability for high levels of activity like racing, for cruising reccon a medium breathable cloth made up into a very rugged suit would be cheaper and just as good if not better

Advise her to go the goretex route but let her choose her own kit....my wife would rather have something that looked good on her than the best waterproofs in the world in Yellow or Red.

Have just purchased a Musto MPX Offsure suit & delighted with it. Looked at lots of others including cheapies but none come close regarding fit, comfort & features. Musto do the range in mens and ladies cuts and also do each size in a broad fit for the larger sailor.
Goto www.marinesuperstore.co.uk in port solent, they are doing it for £459, my local chandler matched this saving me £80 on their price.
The Gill Key West suit also looks a good buy.

SWMBO and junior-SWMBO both have Gill Key West, and very pleased with it. Has kept them dry and warm, plus seems to be right shape to fit properly.

Some time ago I posed a similar question asking for views on the XM Ocean suit. As a result I purchased the said suit at a saving over the opposition of several hundred pounds.

I have used this suit to go round the East coast from the Wash to Falmouth and from Falmouth to the Azores. The only time the weather was good enough to remove it a wave slopped over the side and drenched me.

The rest of the time the suit did exactly what it was supposed to do, it was comfortable, and fitted well. However, I suspect that for those with a "fuller" figure the sizing may not be a touch tight in the trouser department. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I was happy with the quality and the wallet didn't sting afterwards. However for label freaks it doesn't have the same cachet.
Cheers.
